Working. Holding a job. Earning a paycheck. Paying taxes. It's how we make our way, but it's also something more. Feeling useful. Earning self-respect. Contributing to our community. Each year nearly 200 workers with severe disabilities are working because of Pearl Buck Center.
Our Adult Services Program helps individuals with disabilities become productive members of our community in three ways:

Pearl Buck Production Services provides work and vocational training to adults with developmental disabilities through subcontract work performed for businesses and organizations in Oregon and across the country.
Working individually and in teams, they perform:
- Bulk Mailing
- Assembly-for a variety of mechanical and electronic products
- Packaging-for products requiring poly bag, box pack, shrink wrap, blister pack, heat seal or vacuum seal
- Manufacturing-from products made from plastic, wood and all types of metal. We have a C.N.C.vertical machine with 4th axis machining ability.
- Order Fulfillment-for direct marketing and e-commerce
This experience and training not only provides them with a sense of accomplishment, but also enables them to become wage earners.

Community-Based Employment matches adults who have severe disabilities with community-based jobs in the public and private sector. We provide ongoing job coaching, vocational training and job placement services at more than 70 local businesses. While interacting with co-workers on the job, Pearl Buck Center workers not only gain new skills, abilities and independence, but they also teach about the value of diversity.

The Life Enhancing Activities Program (LEAP) provides services to adults with moderate to profound developmental disabilities. Some are medically fragile or may not have the physical stamina, ability or desire to work in our production facility or in the community. LEAP aims to stimulate the intellect, provide interesting activities, help clients stay healthy, feel valued and have some good old-fashioned fun.
